Peach Bunny Bakery is a home-based bakery located in Nashville.
We're so eager to see where this pastry lust can go, and can't wait to share it with the Nashville community.
I'm Sara, the creator and head (read: only) chef. I'm a professional baker who ended up on the dark side of 9 to 5's - accounting. But don't leave yet! After scouring the early days of internet food blogs to teach myself how to cook and working in kitchens for most of my 20's, I knew creating food would be a permanent part of my life.
My methods and techniques developed largely from working for Joanne Chang of Boston's Flour Bakery and Cafe. She's an incredible business woman, leader, and a damn good French-influenced pastry chef. Her recipes taught me the magic of salt (!) and simplistic approaches heightened by perfect execution and thoughtful flavors.
The rest came from me. If I didn't know how to temper eggs, or make pate a choux, I taught myself. If a scone was too dry, I googled the hell out of it and revamped. If I wanted to recreate that one pastry I had (one time, at a bakery I forgot the name of) that changed my life, I plunged into countless recipe sites until I found an approximation I could work with.
I love food and what making and eating it means to us. I'm always exploring that and (literally) hungry to know more.
And that same love for buttery nirvana applies to all the people it reaches - as we go forward, a huge part of our vision is to be a safe, welcoming, uplifting presence in the community. Cause for real, what the hell is the point if you're not doing some kind of good?
I couldn't do it without my husband/taste tester/hype man, Joseph (who also is credited with the name). Not to mention a city that I'm thankful to call home, and a passion for feeding people with warmth, butter, and the little reprieve of tasting something that we can believe in.
